Move over black tux, there’s a new suit in town! Wedding attire for men no longer requires the traditional black suit, tuxedo or everyone to have matching ties. Couples are choosing new styles for the men to don at their weddings. Some popular looks include gray or blue suits, khaki, seer-sucker, or the no-jacket suspender look. A great way to add a little personality and style to your wedding: shirts with bow ties, patterned suits, or plaid and patterned ties. We absolutely love the styles below that can be found here at Style Me Pretty. What will your groom be wearing?
Spring Showers!
What better way to celebrate the first signs of spring, than with a garden inspired bridal shower?
This past March, Bliss had the privelege of planning this super chic shower for one of our dear clients. Smaller parties are such a fun change of pace for Bliss, as these events typically allow for creative liberty and finely detailed design elements.
The Tuscany Subdivision Clubhouse provided the perfect backdrop for this intimate garden affair. The tone of the event was immediately set by the “secret garden” themed entrance. Fresh spring blooms and branches exploded with color from a wrought iron gate, welcoming guests as they arrived. Immediately upon entering the clubhouse, one’s senses were overtaken with the bursts of color and aroma of fresh flowers. The sweet smells of hyacinth, lilac, stock, garden roses, freesia and gardenia melded together with the blooms of forsythia, hydrangea, viburnum, tulips and cherry blossom.
The living room was set with fully dressed tables, sparing no details; including a fresh gardenia bloom at each place setting. Accent garden decor elements, provided by the hostess, were used to add a touch of whimsy to the event – such as the adorable garden pots, which also became the guests favors. Birds nests and butterflies were incorporated into a fun woodsy display across the fireplace. Cupcakes provided by Cuppa Cake, were adorned with small floral touches to tie the overall theme into the edibles. The fresh floral centerpieces doubled as prizes for those silly shower games we all claim to loathe, but secretly love playing so much!
Weddings may be what Bliss is most commonly known for, but we LOVE the opportunity to design any kind of party. Intimate affairs, such as this one, give us the opportunity to let loose and let the creative juices flow.
A special thanks to our dear photography friend, Greg Hoskins (www.greghoskins.com), who shot the event and provided us with all of these wonderful images. Enjoy!

Save-The-Dates: to send or not to send…
Save-the-dates are a fabulous way to create some excitement and buzz about your wedding among your friends and family. They can be much more informal than your invitation, so have fun with them! Think outside the box! We’ve seen everything from stickers, magnets, candy bars, postcards, pictures, treasure maps and more! Just remember that save-the-dates and invitations really set the tone and give your guests an idea of what to expect from your wedding, so make sure it flows with the overall feel and theme for that day.
Many people wonder if save-the-dates are a must, but really its up to you. No one knows your guests better than you! If you think it might be helpful for your guests to have a heads up to make arrangements so they won’t miss your big day, then do it! If your wedding is a destination event, is a holiday weekend, or bookings can be challenging in the city for travelers, then save-the-dates are recommended. When to send them can be tricky. You don’t want to send them too early because your guests are likely to just set them aside and forget about them. Sending them too late will overlap with your invitations, which then ends up being a waste. Send them six to eight months before your wedding, allowing plenty of time for guests to make arrangements and plenty of time in between the arrival of your invitations.

Bustles!
If there is one thing we have seen a lot of at our Bliss weddings, it’s bustles! We’ve seen the standard, impossible-to-find white loops and white buttons (torture!) and we’ve seen the color-coded ties hidden among all that beautiful fabric. What we’ve also seen are five bridesmaids with confused looks on their faces bustling away while the bride awaits her reception grand entrance.
The magic of bustles is that they create a dancing and reception-appropriate solution to a lovely ceremony train. At Bliss, we have learned over the years that each dress and each bustle is unique. Some are simple, and some may possibly require an engineering degree to comprehend!
With that in mind, one of our favorite recommendations is for our brides to always take a long a mother of the bride, maid of honor or dependable friend to final fittings. We love to prepare for every scenario and ensuring that a friend or family member is prepared to quickly bustle that beautiful gown before the reception starts makes all the difference in the world!

From Our Florist: Creative Cotton
Cotton, cotton and more cotton… We at Bliss Events can’t get enough of the idea of incorporating cotton into the design elements of our upcoming summer and fall events. Unexpected and extremely thrifty, this organic material brings little poofs of texture in an understated, yet classy way. The images featured below, show how easily cotton can make it’s way into everything from bridal party flowers to ceremony and reception design. Enjoy!

Loving Burlap!
Happy Valentines Day!
Love is in the air and we decided to commemorate this special day by sharing one of our favorite new inspirations: BURLAP (satin and organza definitely have a rival this season!)
This eco-friendly fabric is no longer just for sandbags! Now a staple in upcoming spring weddings, burlap adds the perfect touch of rustic chic. It is also a great neutral to combine with color or a classic white and creates a crisp natural look. At Bliss, we’re getting many requests for hints of burlap added to our brides’ wedding decor and we can see why! Enjoy!
Well, hello there!
Thanks for stopping by and taking a few moments out of your busy schedule to hang out with the Bliss Girls. Bliss Events is finally starting a blog. I know, I know, I said I would never find time to write a blog…but times have changed, weddings have changed and I have seen the error of my ways thanks to Jennifer (our internal marketing guru), Lauren (our delightful intern), Tana (the most amazing photographer I know) and Brandi (my local wedding planning friend). So with the help of my incredible Bliss Girls, together we will create a blog tailored just for you to help make the wedding planning process just a little bit easier.
We will share what has been keeping us busy in the past, what we are currently planning and what we hope to create in the future; a perfect balance of useful information and pure inspiration. Our goal for this blog is to be a useful tool in planning your wedding in Boise, McCall or Sun Valley. Typically our information will be for our local Bliss brides, but we welcome non-Bliss brides or brides from other places or hopeful brides (I say this with the utmost sincerity) or anyone that just likes weddings! Look through pictures, ask questions and read up – we promise to keep it short, sweet and to the point!
We are the best friends that never get tired of talking about your wedding. Whether you are concerned about the shade of white of your wedding dress clashing with your table cloths or if you are stressed because your mom wants you to invite your second cousin’s ex-wife to the wedding when you are already over on your budget- we are here for you! Relax, kick off those heels (we know your feet are killing you) and hang out with us for a little while – or at least until your boss catches you and you have to get back to work- ugh.
Welcome to our blissful wedding world! Stay tuned for more updates and inspirations next week!
Sincerely,
Teresa (& Bliss Girls)
